When we were younger and didn’t have video games, we would organize stickball, touch football, or sandlot baseball games. This meant that two kids had to pick their teams from among all the kids there. Of course, they would pick the best-qualified players first. I loved playing sports, but I wasn’t qualified for these particular sports, so I was always picked last. It was always a humbling experience for me.
In the passage we are looking at this morning, Mark tells us who Jesus picked and how He picked them for His A-Team. There are valuable lessons in this passage for people.
