“Be a Realistic Encourager!” 1 Thess. 2:17-3:5
Would we agree that following Christ is excellent and great, but also difficult and challenging at times? This is a biblical paradox that many in the American church often overlook or refute.
In this passage, Paul wants to be a realistic encourager. That is, he wishes the believers in Thessalonica to be spiritually and emotionally prepared when they do encounter problems, persecution, and opposition because of their faith. I suggest that this is a message the American church needs to hear today because many don’t want to leave their comfort zones.
