“The King and the Prophet!” Mark 6:14-29

Public opinion is very often wrong. Many times, it is based on conjecture rather than facts from reliable sources. Look at public opinion concerning vital issues like the importance of church, faith, the true gospel of Christ, marriage, divorce, abortion, gender identity, and sin in general.
Over my years in ministry, many people have told me with conviction that the Bible is full of errors and, therefore, not reliable. I always asked these people to show me one example from Scripture, and 99% were unable to do that. There are still false popular opinions about the Bible.
In today’s passage, we meet King Herod Antipas, who was an immoral and corrupt man. We also meet the last Old Testament prophet, John the Baptist, who preached the message of repentance from sin to prepare the way for Christ. John had the moral courage to confront Herod about his immoral marriage to Herodias, his brother’s wife.
